Betty Moffitt
Rev. Betty Moffitt is the Chief Operating Officer of Worldwide Voice in the Wilderness, an international missionary ministry to prisons and forgotten and neglected peoples around the world.
At the age of 12 Betty Moffitt gave her life to God for full time missions work. That call ultimately led her to marry Johnny Moffitt, her husband of fifty years, and to work with him in prisons around the world. For several years she was a chaplain in a youthful offender’s prison. She has ministered in teaching, preaching and singing to both male and female prisoners of all ages.
An accomplished vocalist and worship leader, she has been a worship leader in prisons, churches, women’s meetings, and retreats, as well as, ministering in solos. She has been an active teacher in church classes from the nursery through adult education. She is a graduate of Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas, and Dr. Mark Rutland’s National Institute of Christian Leadership.
Betty and Johnny are the recipients of the “2011 Ray Chamberlain Award”, for “Outstanding Service in World Missions”, presented by the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International. Betty also received the “Chaplain Ray Lifetime Achievement Award”, from the International Coalition of Prison Evangelists in 2011. Under Betty and Johnny’s leadership, WVIW has received five “Governor’s Awards” from the Governors of Texas.
Because she believes God wants her to help those Christians with a similar calling to hers, she has spent much time teaching and training worship leaders and others who are called to prison ministry.
